- Assisted Living suites are furnished with a microwave oven and an apartment size fridge with freezer unit. Modest kitchen cabinetry, with kitchen sink, and ample closets provide good storage. Induction Cook Tops (Hot Plates) are available by request. Toasters, toaster ovens, coffee makers, slow cookers and electric kettles with automatic shut-offs are permitted.
- Some of the 3rd floor suites are furnished with electric stoves.
- Supportive housing units do not have any appliances.
- Tenants supply their own furniture and are responsible for their own content insurance coverage.
- Mattresses must be new (proof of purchase required).
- Window coverings (blinds) are provided
- Each floor has an energy-efficient washer and dryer pair in a central laundry room that also has table space for folding laundry. There is no extra cost to use these machines.
- All units have wheelchair accessible, generously sized full bathrooms.
- Heating and air-conditioning are controlled within each suite. Utilities are included in the rent package.
- Satellite television is available at reduced cost.
- Telephone services available through MTS.
- The common areas are for the enjoyment of all tenants and their guests. An enclosed outdoor courtyard with its attractive landscaping and flowerbeds, the quiet conversation areas leading to modest balconies, and the dining area are common living areas.
Greendale Estate is connected physically to Menno Home to facilitate social interaction.
Safety & Security
- All exterior fire doors are locked to outside access.
- For Assisted Living tenants the use of “Life Line” is encouraged. A “check” system is in place, where a tenant representative of each floor, accounts for those living on the floor each day.
- In Supportive Housing our emphasis is on client safety. Home Care staff are available for 24 support and supervision, in conjunction with a functional call-bell system, entry and exit key pads as well as a “Roam Alert” security bracelet system.
- This building conforms with the latest fire regulations and is fully protected by a sprinkler system.
- All staff must submit a Criminal Record Check and Abuse Registry check before beginning employment.
- An employee may, with discretion, decide that an emergency with regard to a tenant or tenants warrants appropriate steps for the best interests of all involved. This could include, but is not limited to a medical emergency, a fire emergency, or any other health or safety issue. Any direct cost incurred on behalf of the tenant is the responsibility of the tenant.
